Want to Get Naked?

By all means, get naked, take your clothes off but do yourself a favor and don’t by into this Naked drink.

Naked- bare, undisguised, uncovered…

Naked

See what this smoothie brand owned by PepsiCo did there… ?  This “All Natural” drink is far from actually being all natural.  It is mislabeled and PepsiCo had to pay 9 million dollars to settle a lawsuit on this smoothie (USA Today)

Let’s pick this baby apart.

On the bottom of the bottle it states “No Sugar Added” … this is deceiving.  No CANE sugar has been added but let’s look at the ingredients.

naked- juice.png

The first thing that jumps out at me is the 1st ingredient! APPLE JUICE. Not Apples, not apple puree, APPLE JUICE PEOPLE! The juice that contains all that sugar! Pineapple JUICE! What is in puree? Sugar? You got it! When it says fruit juice and puree, they add concentrated fruit sugar without the benefit of the fruit’s fiber.

Let’s look at the grams of Sugar in this beloved drink.

28g Sugar x 2 PER BOTTLE = 56g Sugar…  I thought the bottle said “No Added Sugar” ?  (key in Thinking Emoji)

Fifty-Six grams is equivalent to 11 teaspoons of sugar. Might as well go have a Coke instead – same size container of Coca Cola has 41 grams of sugar. Just kidding. Please don’t…

Go have a Snickers instead at 29 grams of sugar. HA!

And the protein… 2 gram. Really? I hope you aren’t drinking this for the gains!

Whip this smoothie up instead my friends!

  • 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk (I use unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze)
  • 1 frozen banana (chopped) (or another frozen fruit)
  • 1 scoop protein powder
  • A handful of spinach
  • 1 tsp chia seeds

Blend until smooth!!! YUM – about 280 calories and delicious !

What’s your favorite smoothie combination?

After the hike on Sunday (and I ran 10 miles in the morning at a race!) I meal prepped for the week! Spaghetti squash, lean ground turkey, broccoli, and goat cheese on top! YUM!!! I’m sure my coworkers are getting the picture now of a day in my life in terms of lunches lol #spaghettisquasheverydamnday

Hope everyone had a great week!!

Office Life – WIAW

Here is my first WIAW : What I Ate Wednesday Post ! 🙂 Hope you all like it!

SO! I didn’t take pictures of my snacks so I’ll just link it for you.

Breaky was a pretty standard for me (eggs in some form) – 2 hard boiled eggs PLUS AVOCODO ! 🙂 Mmmm

IMG_7953

I usually don’t get hungry between breakfast and lunch because I’m normally consuming a lot of the water I drink during that time. Either hot, warm, or cold water — that’s a story for later ;-P ( my tummy feels better with warmer water)

For lunch I had this amazing salad I came up with. Here is the recipe:

  • Romaine lettuce
  • Spinach (on the bottom in the picture)
  • Hearts of Palm (obsessed- I get it at Trader Joe’s)
  • Dried Apricot
  • Dried cranberries or pomegranate (I had both in the below salad)
  • Cucumbers (underneath)
  • Crumbles of Goat Cheese ( can sub Feta or Gorgonzola – whatever you like)
  • —-I topped it with Raspberry Vinaigrette! YUM !

IMG_7922

After lunch, I snack on a White Chocolate Luna Bar– this is my fave one by far.

I also had Cucumbers dipped in Honey Mustard……. don’t ask 😛 It’s delish.

For dinner- I decided to do some more meal prepping since I was running out of the salads. I made stir fried tofu with a mix of brocolli and cauliflower. I added himalayan salt to both as well as some Garlic Lovers Flavor God.

Flavor God- garlic lovers Himalayan salf IMG_7864 IMG_7863 IMG_7860

Not the prettiest pictures in the world but my kitchen was dark since I was making it at around 8:45pm at night after I got home from the gym.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

What did you do for Labor Day weekend?

Do you want to know more about Himalayan Salt?

Much love ~

Weekend FUN!

I am so sorry I haven’t posted in a week! Or…. maybe more…????? YIKES!

I’ve been enjoying life and forgetting to take pictures! Then I remember and I forget that I actually just can’t post pictures without words lol. SO – Back at it!

These past 2 weekends have been CRAZY FUN!

Saturday (2 weeks ago) I went to a wine festival with a friend!! I absolutely love this gal so much! She is such a breath of fresh air and so down to earth! 🙂

Winefest- wine Winefest-S

It was so fun to learn more about the wineries in Virginia! There are SO many!!! My favorite was Horton Vineyards — the Viognier was exceptional.

Sunday: per usual I slept in because… let’s be real. I LOVE to sleep. It is one of my veryyyy favorite things 🙂 .

Then I got ready to go Zip Lining!!!! (who gets ready for zip lining where you’re going to be flying through the air and apparently sweating like crazy because it’s 95 degrees out) – oh… Me. –> note to self: don’t get ready. You’ll need to shower afterwards because you’ll look disgusting like you did a workout for 5 hours. Woops

Zip Lining has been on my LTD’s (List of To-Do’s) for awhile now. My dad got me 2 tickets to go in Purcellville, VA anytime during the summer. So naturally, I asked my BFF Carissa. 🙂

CM- Ziplining

It was blast and a half. 😉 Seriously though- I almost peed my pants at one point because I was so nervous. It didn’t help that the guy instructors would mess with you saying you could go (push off to fly to the next zip line) then as you’re in the air they say “WAIT!!!!!” lol . I about died. Fine! Maybe not die… but definitely a heart attack about to happen.

Mid-week activity…

I went to the Jim Gaffigan comedy tour! HE IS MY FAVORITE!!!

I invited my Pops! He loves Jim too!

Dad- JG

Saturday morning started off with a bangin breakfast I made. I sautéed a 1/2 green pepper then added 2 scrambled eggs + cheese (because I can’t have scrambled eggs without CHZ)– while also cooking 3 Turkey bacon pieces. Yes- I have been Pescaterian for the last month- but HECK! I wanted BACONNNNNNNNNNNNN 🙂 So turkey bacon it was. 🙂

Breakfast

Then it was my friends birthday celebrations in Georgetown DC. We went on a boat!!! A Boomerang boat! It was SO fun!!! We had about 20 friends to join and celebrate his birthday! I don’t have many pictures because I was having too much fun chit chatting with friends and enjoying the moment 🙂

CM- Saturday Boat

After the boat fun– Sunday crept up on me 🙂 Sundays are for MEAL PREP! … Maybe? Ok fine- but first go to the pool and hang out because it has been 95-100 degrees out!!! AHHHHH. So that’s what I did. Then! I went home and made brocolli, cauliflower and tofu. I am a “pescaterian” at the moment because I honestly couldn’t stomach putting a darn piece of chicken in my mouth one more time lol. YEAH YEAH – I had turkey bacon last weekend… Don’t shoot me! But I am back on the fish/veggie wagon..  TOFU it is!! MMMMMMmmmmmmm!

MP- Tofu MP- Basil MP- BrocCaul

And that ends my crazy last 2 weeks!!! I am absolutely going to be posting more often so please don’t hate me for being a slacker!!! I love you all! 🙂

What do you want to know about or hear about?? What did you do this past weekend?!

Weekend Recap- Visit to Grandpa’s!

This weekend was a fun one! My mom and I traveled down to Hertford, NC on Friday to visit my Grandpa and his wife Nancy.  They live on a plantation in Hertford right on the water! 🙂 It was so relaxing and beautiful! Here are some pictures to recap!

LET’S DO THIS! HAHAHA

Grandpasvisit-salad Grandpasvisit-TheTable Grandpasvisit-Thetablemenu

The Table was delicious! It had a 2 page menu that had many different options. The salad above was only HALF of the salad my mom got. HUGE! Then we got entrees, then dessert 🙂 I got the chicken and it was on point. It was a smaller venue but I think it was because they are testing the location out before putting in a permanent restaurant. Go check it out if you’re in town!

This sums up my trip to NC to visit family and have a fun weekend away. I hope everyone had a great weekend as well!

XOXO

Peek into the weekend

This weekend FLEW by! I don’t even remember Friday! Ha!

I watched House of Cards 🙂 since I’m finally on the new season ! YAY! This show has been very difficult for me to keep up with.   We have a love/hate relationship 😉

Saturday I ran a few miles then got ready for the day.  Randomly decided to go to Bonefish— which is always a great decision!

Outfit:

Bonefish- outfit!

Sunday started out with 10 miles! 🙂 IT WAS A GORGEOUS DAY! Therefore, I took advantage of it! I went on a trail which made it much more enjoyable because I got to soak in streams, people watching, and DOGS 🙂

Run - 10

To end the day.. my best friend made me a DIY project!! She’s the best! I’m am SO excited to find the perfect wall space to hang it!
